I'm from the old school. Suite101 needs a rider: This is not an accredited, nor quality health site regardless of the good efforts of its writers and anonymous posters. Every so often, this reminder is needed in case children etc are watching.

Yeah, you're right. Sites like these that let just anybody (like myself) comment can be about as authoritative as MySpace sometimes. (By the way, I hear MySpace can be a very effective marketing tool--hint, hint Paul)
Guess you just have to have your wits about you when you're reading from any website.

My post was a bit blunt. I'm getting kicked off the internet a lot and for me at least, suite101 is troublesome. To go back, I need to double click where one click useta work and still does for all other sites. It also shows up some access denied type warning. So, I post, re-post, re-post...and run...til the problem's fixed. ![]()
I really understand a person with cancer or any terminal illness wanting to try absolutely anything. Tis a part of my "baggage" that I read peer reviews of treatment strategies. Also, b Back in the 70s I worked in the Federal Health Department here for a few years. Whenever I come here, I make sure I only cite from a quality website.
But all that aside, for all anyone needs to knows...you and I are exactly the same...peas in a pod. This site is great to share but do your own checking even if it is simply checking it with your doctor or licenced health provider.

Definitely not Redback. I have been somewhat preoccupied the last week or so, with some new material and other non-Suite stuff. Not sure where tinuviel and others has gone. People come and go - sure things will pick up soon.
Thanks for your input throughout!

Redback,
I have been away, but not because of you. I actually didn't read your last post till last night. Though I agree that your previous post was a bit blunt--it's still somewhat accurate. Though I know for a fact that Paul gets very good information to put on here, it's also a fact that I (as a layman) can just come in and type my ideas. This makes it very necessary that anyone seeking information be discerning.
So, basically I agree with you.

Paul only cites from quality websites too--real peer-reviewed stuff by scientists who know their work will be scrutinized by professionals. But I don't do that, and I comment here too. So... that's the only reason I would say people should still be careful about what they take away from this particular section of suite (i.e. the Cancer site). I would even go so far as to say that the articles here (as opposed to the discussions) are about as authoritative as you can get without those pesky citations every few seconds.
But I still agree with you.

G'day Tinuviel
I didn't want to imply an opinion is not worthwhile. Everyone's opinion can add a piece to the jigsaw and personal experiences can add a reality check to the efficacy of treatment.
Sometimes assumptions can be made that if it works very well for 2000 people, it'll work at least OK for the next 3000. Or if it works in the USA, it'll sell in Australia, too.
I think Paul is doing a great job. So far, my cancers have been 2 types of skin cancer. But the older one gets, other risks rear their ugly heads. And I'm a tad underwhelmed about getting checked out for 'em.

Welcome back redback!
I agree - opinions have to be treated with caution, but probably not dismissed lightly.
